Robert W. Fuller (Hon. A.B. 1970), educator, physicist, social activist, was the tenth president of Oberlin College (1970-74). As a higher education reformer, he created an Education Commission that tinkered in a variety of ways with the structure of the College. Many of his reforms were controversial and faced stiff opposition. Fuller's administration also advanced innovative curicular initiatives such as the inter-disciplinary Inter-Arts program, Human Development courses which were student-centered intellectual inquiry regarding topical issues, and the Judaic and Near Eastern Studies (JNES) program.
